AXA Berchem

Newly renovated AXA Bank headquarters in Berchem, just outside of the city limits of Antwerp, was rebuilt around the concrete carcass of the original 1970s office building. The sober horizontal lines of the project express a sense of strength and stability for the well-known financial group and the large, glass bays and penthouse form a transition between the city of Antwerp and its immediate, more low-rise suburbs.
When compared to the previous building, the new AXA headquarters uses 30% less electricity and up to 50% less gas. It also saves 900 tons of CO2, the equivalent of 32.000 trees. The development provides office space for 1.400 people and is the headquarters for all of AXA’s activities in Belgium, including its Antwerp based insurance division.
